I received my new card. What do I do now?
Activate your card. Set up digital wallets. Log in to eBranch or our mobile app for access to transactions, make payments, elect Mastercard eStatements, and more.
Should I notify the Credit Union when I travel?
Yes, we recommend that you set a travel notice on any cards you plan to use while traveling, so your card access is not interrupted. For your protection, we will continue to monitor card activity even when a travel notice is set. If you encounter any issues while traveling, we're here to help.
What is the Cardholder Services phone number?
You can contact Cardholder Services toll-free at (866) 605-5243.
What is the payment address?
The payment address is:
PO Box 60510
City of Industry, CA 91716-0510
You can also make payments from your CEFCU savings account within eBranch or set up recurring automatic payments.
What happens if fraud is detected on my credit card account?
In the case of any suspected fraud, you'll get a phone call from (800) 328-2071. We recommend adding this phone number to your contacts as Falcon Fraud Detection Work Center. You may also receive an SMS text message from (855) 553-4290 or (888) 918-7313.
What is a contactless card?
Contactless cards are a convenient and secure way to pay. Since credit card information is not transmitted to the merchant’s card processor, your account is less exposed to data breaches and fraud.
Your card is also equipped with an EMV chip and magnetic strip for transactions at terminals not equipped for contactless payments.
Will I need a PIN to use my Mastercard?
No, you do not need a PIN to make purchases with your credit card. During Card Activation steps, you will be prompted to create a PIN. This PIN is for ATM cash transactions only.
This is not the same as Chip & PIN and will not work for purchases. The term "PIN" or "Signature" refer to how you authorize a transaction, by providing your signature or entering a PIN. When using your CEFCU Mastercard, you will be prompted for a signature to complete a transaction. CEFCU does not currently offer a Chip & PIN credit card.
EMV Chip Card
Where can I use my EMV Chip Card?
Many merchants across the U.S. accept chip card transactions. Chip technology is already used in many countries around the world, including Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom. Your chip card also works at terminals that where only magnetic stripe transactions are accepted.
How does an EMV Chip Card work?
An EMV chip card is a standard-size plastic credit card that contains an embedded microchip as well as the traditional magnetic stripe. The chip encrypts information to increase data security when making transactions at a chip-enabled terminal.
If the merchant has a chip-enabled terminal, simply insert your chip card face up into the terminal. The chip card will remain in the terminal while the transaction is processed. To authorize your transaction, just follow the prompts on the terminal. You'll be prompted for a signature to complete the purchase. Then, remove your card from the terminal when the transaction is completed. If the merchant is not equipped for chip cards, just swipe to use the magnetic strip on your card.
Can contactless cards and EMV Chip cards prevent all fraud from happening?
No, contactless cards and EMV chip cards provide an additional layer of security at enabled terminals. As the industry continues to develop new fraud prevention and monitoring to protect consumers, perpetrators will continue to look for new ways to commit fraud.
